Originally designed with the second floor interior spaces aligning with the first floor, the master bedroom was pulled out over the front porch creating a two-story interior space. This tall space, connected at the heart of the house via a bridge, lets the inhabitants feel at the center of summer activities. Large windows on the south and west sides and high, small porthole-like windows on the east keep the house cool during the summer.
Constructed of cedar, douglas fir, Mahogany and pine, the house earned this studio the President’s Award for design from the Buffalo/Western New York Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
