The Kurtzner Cottage is part barn, part houseboat, located in a summer resort area on Chautauqua Lake in upstate New York. The 2,000 square foot cottage with 400 square feet of porches and balconies, has views of the lake to southwest, west and north. In addition to the practical requirements of four bedrooms, open living spaces and a variety of outdoor living areas, the cottage was to evoke memories of the clients’ original cottage built with exposed framing and dark stained woodwork.
