Chautauqua Institution is a cultural, religious and recreational summer resort on Chautauqua Lake in upstate New York. The project was to create a master plan for renovations and additions to the five buildings that comprise the children’s day camp. The Girls’ Club is a turn of the century building with classrooms for nature study, housing for young women counselors and covered recreation spaces for rainy day activities. Three of the five buildings are over a hundred years old and one of the design objectives was to make the buildings fit for the next 100 years.
